Invitation to Professional/Specialization Courses in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
We are very pleased to invite interested persons to the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) courses, namely:

1. Professional Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (Cert. ADR).
Eligibility: Readiness to attend class either physically or online. Totaling 50 hours, the classes run for five (5) weekends. The course is particularly suitable for people who desire to specialize, become proficient or professionals in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and conflict resolution. People with extensive leadership experience e.g. public office holders and traditional rulers; civil society leaders and community leaders; civil servants, military and Para-military officers, company directors and senior managers; serving and retired, are particularly welcome. Previous academic qualification is not mandatory but ability to communicate in English is necessary.
Course work/Methodology:
The course is hands-on practical. It is therefore multi-disciplinary, inter-disciplinary, and trans-disciplinary. It is designed as a one-stop-shop for acquiring holistic tools for effective conflict resolution, which can be used in public and private sectors. Graduates of the course are expected to measurably impart and impact their community, local and international through improved and effective conflict resolution. Live case studies therefore form critical learning points in the course. Proactive and creative individual student’s participation in and out of class is promoted. to pass the course. The following subjects, taught by professors and other academics who are all experienced practitioners, are learnt through highly interactive conceptualization in mostly workshops settings:
- Traditional African Dispute Resolution (TADR) Mechanisms.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR): Principle, Types, Interfaces, Legal framework, Procedures and Institutionalization
- Effective Conflict Resolution: Philosophy, Approach, Forum, Ground rules, Foundation, Building and Key.
- Victim-Offender Mediation/Restorative Justice: Principles and Practice.
- Management of Internal Displacement and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs): International Guidelines and Practices.

2. Diploma in Alternative Dispute Resolution (Dip. ADR). (Research only)
Eligible candidates: 1) Cert. ADR; 2) Bachelor degree holders and their equivalents; 3) Professionals e.g. Accountants; Bankers; Insurers; Lawyers; Mediators; Arbitrators; Architects etc. Students are required to submit a high standard of research work in any of the subject areas listed below:
- Traditional African Dispute Resolution (TADR) Mechanisms.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanisms
- Effective Conflict Transformation and Dispute Resolution: Principles, Elements, Practice and Procedure.
- ADR Research Methodology.
- Coexistence Management.
- Conflict Management Impact Assessment.
- Civilian Peacekeeping, Peace-Building and Post-Conflict Reconstruction.
- Management of Internal Displacement and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
- Victim-Offender Mediation/Restorative Justice.
- Institutionalization of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Public and Private Sectors.

Course graduates can use the designation Cert.ADR or Dip.ADR after their names.
Commencement/Completion Dates:
The programme runs all year round. Interested persons can therefore join the programme at times most suited to them. Students are however required to complete coursework to graduate.
Tuition fee:
N150, 000 (One hundred and fifty thousand Naira). Need-based full and partial scholarships are available on request.

Registration form is free and can be obtained, filled and submitted online or by post after payment of the tuition fee.
