Vice Chancellor's Message:
Prof. Paul Omojo Omaji

There is something special about favoured firstborns. They lead the breakthrough for subsequent generations.

You are among the favoured firstborns of Salem University. This is a privileged status and thoroughly well deserved. As we congratulate you, we must be quick to also add that the responsibility which goes with this status is huge.

You will tread the grounds of this University as students where few or none had gone before. As we are still putting finishing touches to some of the facilities which will define the unique environment that we want to develop for effective learning in this University, you have both the rare opportunity and responsibility of becoming part of the "builders".

By reason of being in the pioneer sets, you also carry he unique responsibility of setting for the Campus he standard for academic and spiritual excellence in leadership for nations. You will have succeeded if you become a flag bearer in the University's transformational academic revolution, designed to raise leaders that will combine basic knowledge with entrepreneurial skills, and intelligence with integrity, to positively change their world.

Most leaders of yesteryears promoted, tolerated, or bowed to poverty, corruption and insecurity. Today's leaders are asking questions about these ills a welcome progress. Tomorrow's leaders from Salem University will not only ask questions; they will take action to right these wrongs and put nations on solid paths to prosperity, civility, and security. We expect you to do or endure whatever it takes to be one of such leaders starting from today.

Study the lives of pioneers! And, you will see how they experienced challenges of different kinds some good, others bad but all were life transforming. Their perseverance bequeathed to posterity the essence of their dreams.

Many people have toiled day and night over a long period of time to prepare the grounds of this privileged status just for you. As the University's Visioner and Chancellor, Archbishop Sam Amaga, has said, he had a dream in which he chose never to let people choose to fail. The structures and processes you see on ground today are results of a dogged pursuit of that dream sustained by deliberate action, tenacity of spirit and skilfulness of his hands and those of his partners who had set their hearts to make you a leader of global impact.

On behalf of the entire University management and community, I welcome you to this noble vision. Our history, mission and mandate, which you will read on the pages of this Handbook, show that there is a rich heritage from which you can successfully launch your university education and future role as a dedicated, devoted, disciplined, and God-fearing leader.
Take time to familiarise yourself with the information regarding the campus facilities, dress code, our policy on residence, and spiritual growth for you during your stay with the University. You will be expected to adhere strictly to these guidelines as they will do you a lot of good.

As examinations will be part of our assessment of your learning progress, this Handbook has also detailed the relevant regulations which you must study carefully and apply in all examination circumstances. Best practice is our watchword in all matters of examination.

You will also find in the Handbook matters of general student conduct and discipline. They are meant to assist you as you determine to behave well so as to uphold the honour of yourself, your parents/sponsors, and the University.

We are committed to your success as a leader, because we believe in the power of Godly leadership in shaping destinies for good. I echo the prayers of the Chancellor for the God of Salem University to help you succeed as you commit your ways to Him.

Enjoy your University!
